The United Auburn Indian Community teamed up with Stations Casinos to develop over 49-acres of land in less than 7 months into a Las Vegas-style gaming facility. The 230,000-sf main casino building includes over 1900 slots, 100 tables, a 500-seat buffet with display cooking, employee dining and casino management offices.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
When Perini was released to begin construction, the schedule had already lost 3 critical weeks due to environmental impact report delays. Soon after, the weather moved in. What followed was an organized production line of earthwork, concrete, steel and MEP trades. “Fast-paced schedule” was being redefined.
WHAT SUNBELT CONTROLS DELIVERED
The main gaming floor is served by roof-mounted Temtrol air handling units. Due to smoking and high internal heat gains constant volume control and high air change rates were required for the Casino gaming areas. Other project highlights include a central plant, fire station, water treatment facility and lots of parking.
The central plant is designed as a 3,600-ton plant incorporating Trane VFD chillers, BAC towers and Cleaver-Brooks boilers. The hot water and chilled water systems employ primary/secondary-pumping strategies with variable frequency drives on the secondary pumps.
Large areas within the casino have hot water reheat for zone temperature control. The employee and management support areas are served by VAV air handlers with VAV reheat zones. ALC’s WebCTRL was selected for the casino’s building automation system.
