In 2020, Sunbelt Controls developed a method for remotely deploying the same quality of Factory Certified Training Classes that our customers have grown to love: Live Instructor-led eLearning in a virtual Zoom classroom environment. This method of training allows for group exercises and one-on-one instruction with the use of breakout rooms. The instructor is able to see the work that students do remotely as if he was in the room with them enabling real-time feedback.

Students connect securely to a fully outfitted computer and training case with modules and components that are dedicated to their training session. The learning experience is comparable to in-person sessions without the added cost of travel.

Meet our Instructors

Derick Hopkins

Derick Hopkins is an experienced ALC Factory Certified Instructor with a demonstrated history in the construction field. Over the past 24 years, he has transitioned from a field technician with service, start-up, and controls experience, to construction supervisor to corporate instructor. Derick has dedicated the later part of his career to breaking down complicated information into smaller principles that students can relate to. Derick covers training in California, Nevada, and Seattle.

Arielle Barnes

Arielle Barnes has been in the Building Automation industry for more than 10 years. She has a background in HVAC graphic engineering, design, and implementation. She’s worked across multiple types of commercial sites working directly with customers and technicians. Arielle brings this experience and creative energy to the classroom. Arielle is the ALC Factory Certified Instructor for the Southern California region.
