PROJECT BACKGROUND

San Francisco City Hall is the seat of government for the City and County of San Francisco, California. The facility re-opened in 1915 in its open space area in the city’s Civic Center, it is a Beaux-Arts monument to the City Beautiful movement that epitomized the high-minded American Renaissance of the 1880s to 1917.

The building’s temperature is controlled primarily by water source heat pumps. While the equipment was in good condition, the building automation controls were outdated and needed to be upgraded.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 

This project required coordination with both on-site and mechanical contractor contacts to craft scheduling to mitigate the impact on the occupants.

WHAT SUNBELT CONTROLS DELIVERED 

The City Hall is an occupied building that requires that impact on occupants is mitigated during any project. Sunbelt Controls was able to complete the initial stage of the project (27 heat pumps) successfully and move to the second stage (179 heat pumps) successfully without impact on the occupants.
