AGC Biologics
Bothell, WA

PROJECT BACKGROUND

Original project was for CMC ICOS biotech company that has been acquired/merged with AGC Biologics. Site remains a contract manufacturing organization (CMO) that offers solutions to the challenges faced in developing bio-processes and in manufacturing biological therapeutics for clinical trial and commercial supplies.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

  • FDA CFR Part 11 Certification
  •  Single Dashboard/Interface with Automated Logic products, Johnson Controls products, serial interfaces with chillers, VFDs, and owner provided equipment.
  • BAS includes control/monitoring of 14+ Air Handling Units, 40+ room pressure gradient transmitters, 2 chiller plants, steam boiler plant and extensive alarming and trend requirements.

WHAT SUNBELT CONTROLS DELIVERED

CMC needed a Building Automation System (BAS) is a Validated system that encompasses the traditional HVAC system as well as alarming/data storage of room pressure gradients for their 5 week shutdown period. Numerous value engineering design challenges were presented to Sunbelt Controls in the weeks prior to mobilization. Sunbelt Controls was able to deliver a cost effective control system by integrating with existing non-validated Johnson Controls systems on existing non-critical HVAC equipment while installing full field mounted control solution for clean room air handling units.

Although CFR21 Part 11 certification was not an initial project requirement, Sunbelt Controls own commissioning documentation standards along with Automated Logic’s WebCTRL software platform features, allowed certification by the owner.

Today, the BAS has expanded to include monitoring/historical data storage of owner process equipment and conversion of all previous Johnson Controls product.

BAS software platform has been upgraded twice since installation and Sunbelt Controls has worked with the client for BAS server transition to virtualized platform as well as a SQL historical database upgrade.
